Day 8
Jesus told a parable, as recorded in Matthew 13, about a person who sowed some seeds. Some seeds fell along the path and the birds ate them up. Some fell on hard, stony ground where there wasn’t much soil. They came up quickly, but when the sun came out, they dried up because they didn’t have roots going down into good soil. Still others fell among thorns and got choked out because the thorns grew faster. But some fell onto good soil, so they grew up and produced a good crop.
It is God’s desire for us to allow the seed of His word to find good soil in our hearts, to take root deep down in our innermost being where it can produce fruit for His Kingdom. We accomplish this by making the spiritual disciplines a part of our daily life and by committing ourselves to a local church where we will be “equipped for the work of the ministry” (Ephesians 4:12).
“May the Lord bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
